Founder's Story
"Be not inhospitable to strangers
Lest they be angels in disguise."
-Yeats/George Whitman
Hi, I’m Samantha Sievers, founder of The Book Lodge.
I created the Lodge because I believe meaningful stories shouldn’t get lost. And too often, they do.
As an independent author, I’ve felt the challenges of writing and publishing firsthand. I longed for a place where stories could be shared, discovered, and truly seen.

Hospitality has always held a special place in my heart. The idea of creating a space online that feels warm, welcoming, and human felt almost radical in an age driven by algorithms.
During my college years, I backpacked through Europe, and one of the most memorable stops was George Whitman’s Shakespeare and Co. bookstore in Paris. The dust-laden first editions, the slanting floors, and the traveler-worn mattresses tucked between towering shelves of books made an indelible impression on me.
I’ll never forget handing George my short biography scribbled on a scrap of paper. I remember gazing out the window at Notre Dame, thinking, What world have I entered?
Shakespeare and Co. felt like a portal—through time, through story, and into something deeper. I was fortunate enough to stay there for a short time, reading in the shadows of literary legends, sorting books by day, and sharing wine with fellow Tumbleweeds by night.
It was nothing short of magical.
That sense of connection—of story, of place, of belonging—is what I hope to offer you here.
A space where your story can be discovered.
A space where you can discover others.
A space made just for you.
Hello, Lodger. Welcome home.
Together, let's BOOK BETTER.
The Book Lodge Ecosystem
Too many stories go undiscovered and unsupported.
The Book Lodge is here to change that.
Just as Whitman’s bookstore was a refuge and a launching pad for aspiring authors, The Book Lodge offers a holistic ecosystem for writers, readers and industry pros to connect and inspire the world.
